Refund with no customer present

Learn how Solink flags refunds or no-sale transactions without a customer present—helping you detect theft or sweethearting before profits disappear.

The play call: Discovering refunds with no customer present

Refunds or no-sale transactions without a customer present are often signs of theft or sweethearting. Solink makes it easy to catch these in real time using Event Spot Check with Sidekick AI.

Instead of scrubbing hours of video, you get a list of high-suspicion events – backed by video, AI analysis, and a full audit trail.

How the play is executed

01

Set up a spot check for “no customer present”

In the Sidekick window, select Event Spot Check and choose the “No Customer Present” template.

This prompt asks Sidekick AI to check each event and flag any refund or no-sale where there’s no visible customer. These get marked as high suspicion.
02

Select the report to monitor

Pick a report like “No Sale” or “Refunds” as your data source. Sidekick will automatically start reviewing each event in that report and flag anything unusual.

03

Create a report and dashboard widget

Once Sidekick has flagged a few events, filter those into a new report. Then create a dashboard widget to track suspicious activity in real time.

You’ll be able to see:

  • How many no-sale events were flagged
  • When and where they happened
  • A direct link to the video
This keeps your loss prevention team focused on what matters.

The result: Fewer fraudulent refunds, fewer excuses

With Sidekick and Spot Check, you don’t wait for a pattern to emerge or rely on gut feelings. Suspicious activity is flagged, tracked, and backed by video. Your team stays proactive, and your profits stay protected.

Bonus playbook tip: Add shift or cashier IDs to your reports so you can quickly see if specific employees are linked to multiple flagged transactions.

Don’t let hidden losses go unnoticed.
