Yatco Energy is a fast-growing, family-run convenience and fuel retailer based in New England. As they opened more stores, disconnected systems created major visibility gaps, with managers losing hours each week to in-person store visits and manual cross-referencing of data sources. To solve this, Yatco adopted Solink as their single source of truth across all locations, streamlining investigations and strengthening operational oversight during rapid expansion.
As Yatco Energy expanded their footprint, they found themselves managing multiple legacy security systems installed by different vendors. Equipment was aging, camera quality varied widely, and none of the systems integrated with POS data, making it difficult for district managers to monitor store performance or investigate suspicious transactions efficiently. When Director of Retail Operations Kieran O’Donovan came on board, he could see that this setup wouldn’t work long-term.
The Yatco team also lacked visibility into whether cameras had gone offline and struggled to share evidence when incidents occurred, creating more operational blind spots that became harder to manage as more new stores opened.
Yatco began rolling out Solink across more locations, leveraging existing camera systems wherever possible to avoid the cost and disruption of a full hardware replacement. As new stores open, Solink will become the standard that provides full visibility from day one.
With video from all stores accessible in one platform, district managers can now monitor store activity remotely and maintain greater oversight across the business. Reviewing footage on a day-to-day basis not only allows them to spot and resolve issues faster, but to recognize employees for a job well done.
The team is currently implementing POS data integration across all locations. This will automate what is currently a manual process: correlating voids, refunds, no-sales, and drawer openings directly with video to provide a full picture of what happened during a given transaction.
For retailers using Solink, this seamless integration reduces loss and theft-related investigation time by an average of 64%, enabling a more proactive and productive approach to loss prevention.
In the meantime, the ease of accessing video has been critical for responding to incidents. When a tobacco violation occurred, the team used Solink to quickly run a deep-dive investigation that would have been challenging to complete with their previous tools.
Beyond security and investigations, Solink has become an essential tool for ensuring marketing and merchandising consistency across locations.
They’re also looking forward to expanding their use of the platform as they continue to grow. “I know there’s a lot we’re not even using yet — AI capabilities and more. That’s down the road,” said O’Donovan. But for now, the combination of reliable technology and standout customer support is already delivering tremendous value.
