NVR

Network video recorders (NVR) are recording systems that work in conjunction with digital footage and store video footage on a hard drive, in the cloud, or on some form of digital storage device.

What is an NVR?

A network video recorder (NVR) is a type of recording system that is used for video footage from digital devices. Where a digital video recorder (DVR) is used for analog devices (instead of using video cassettes), NVRs are used for digital or IP cameras. The purpose of these devices is to store video for later playback.

NVRs have significant advantages over DVRs. For example, NVR systems are capable of recording up to 4K resolution, allowing much greater clarity of video than older systems. They are also easier to set up, and their video and audio feeds can be transmitted along the same cable systems.

Why are NVRs important?

NVRs represent the most recent iteration of the traditional security system. Cameras attached to recording devices have been the norm for decades, but the effectiveness and ease of these systems has not always been ideal. Now, hardwired connections are no longer needed, and Wifi cameras can be used to transmit feeds remotely (although wired options remain more reliable and should be used wherever possible).

Blurry images have now been replaced with high resolution. The ability to accurately direct certain types of cameras remotely, and even access those cameras through digital devices, has been added, making NVRs very important to security systems everywhere from banks to warehouses and government buildings.

NVRs are safe and easy to install. In addition, because they rely on systems that aren’t as prone to flaws as traditional analog security systems, they are more reliable. Previously even something as simple as someone forgetting to replace a security tape could lead to a crime being missed completely. Overall, NVRs are a safe and stable system for recording.
