"The tracking of the products through the registers, the receipts, the data that shows up on the registers...now that’s all the stuff you guys are doing that is just fantastic ."

~ Bobby Molino, Security Officer for Luekens Liquors

The Client:
Luekens Liquors

Luekens Liquors is a family-owned liquor retailer based in Florida, known for offering a wide selection of wines, spirits, and craft beers. With multiple locations across the state, Luekens has built a reputation for competitive pricing and exceptional customer service. They cater to both everyday shoppers and enthusiasts looking for unique or high-end selections.

Luekens Liquors was looking to enhance both their security and operational oversight when they explored Solink. With outdated cameras and limited security coverage in several stores, they needed a more reliable, user-friendly system that could not only improve security but also integrate with their point-of-sale (POS) data. Their goal was to track transactions, reduce theft, and easily monitor store activity, all while ensuring that incidents could be quickly and accurately investigated. By upgrading to Solink, they hoped to achieve better loss prevention, streamline operations, and ultimately protect their bottom line.

Their challenges before Solink

Concerns

  • Outdated and unreliable CCTV system
  • Inability to track transactions and loss prevention
  • Limited security oversight

Outdated and unreliable CCTV system

Luekens Liquors struggled with their outdated CCTV system, which caused frequent disruptions and left critical blind spots in their store monitoring. The system’s cameras were unreliable, often going offline, leaving only a few functional cameras covering limited areas, like the registers. This made it nearly impossible to monitor the rest of the store, creating security vulnerabilities in high-traffic sections like aisles and entryways.

"The cameras were constantly down without us always knowing about it. We only had cameras looking at the registers at times and we couldn’t look at anything else. It was difficult to deal with."

The lack of consistent coverage also meant that when incidents occurred, whether theft or employee misconduct, Bobby and his team were left with little to no footage to investigate. This became a recurring issue, as most of the cameras were either malfunctioning or only capturing limited areas.

Inability to track transactions and loss prevention

They faced a significant challenge in tracking transactions and preventing loss due to the lack of integration between their old camera system and point-of-sale (POS) data. Without this connection, it was extremely difficult to monitor employee transactions for potential theft or errors.

Bobby Molino, the security officer, had to manually review footage, and even then, he could only watch a limited portion of the store. This made it hard to correlate suspicious activities at the register with video evidence, resulting in missed opportunities to catch theft or fraudulent behavior.

Bobby expressed the frustration of working without an integrated system, saying,

"We didn’t have cameras tied to the registers, so I couldn’t easily track things like refunds or cash discrepancies. It was difficult to catch people stealing, and I was basically blind to anything happening beyond the cash registers."

Limited security oversight

Luekens Liquors also faced the challenge of limited security oversight due to the difficulty in accessing and reviewing footage from their outdated system. He had to navigate a cumbersome process to retrieve and review video, especially when incidents occurred. This made investigations not only time-consuming but also inefficient, as the system lacked the functionality to easily search for specific events or transactions. As a result, Bobby often had to spend significant time manually searching through footage, which slowed down their ability to respond to incidents promptly.

"Recording was so much harder, and accessing footage was a pain. I had to dig through everything manually, and it took forever to find what I needed."

Their results after Solink

Solutions

  • Reliable camera coverage and camera health check monitoring
  • Integrated POS and video data for loss prevention
  • Ability to conduct efficient incident investigation and review

Reliable camera coverage and camera health check monitoring

With Solink, Luekens Liquors now benefits from reliable camera coverage and proactive camera health check monitoring, eliminating the frustrations they experienced with their previous system. Solink ensures that all cameras remain functional and cover key areas of the store, such as aisles, entryways, and registers, providing Bobby Molino with complete visibility across the store. This has significantly improved security, as Bobby no longer has to worry about cameras going down or missing critical events.

Additionally, Solink’s camera health monitoring alerts Bobby to any issues with the system, allowing him to address potential problems before they lead to gaps in coverage. As Bobby described,

"Before, we only had cameras looking at the registers. Now, with Solink, I can watch the entire store, and I get notifications if something’s wrong with the cameras, which never happened with the old system."

Integrated POS and video data for loss prevention

With Solink’s integrated POS and video data, Luekens Liquors has greatly improved their ability to track transactions and prevent loss. Before Solink, they struggled to correlate suspicious transactions or discrepancies at the register with video evidence, making it difficult to catch theft or fraud. Now, Solink seamlessly connects POS data with video footage, allowing them to quickly review any concerning transactions, refunds, or cash discrepancies in real time.

With the ability to see what happens at the register alongside the corresponding video, Luekens has reduced theft and errors, ensuring better control over their operations.

Ability to conduct efficient incident investigation and review

Thanks to Solink’s advanced tools, Luekens Liquors has drastically improved their ability to conduct efficient incident investigations and reviews. Before implementing the system, they had to manually sift through hours of footage, making it difficult to address incidents like theft or employee errors in a timely manner. Solink’s intuitive platform now allows him to search for specific transactions or events and instantly pull up the corresponding video, speeding up the investigation process.

The system’s time-saving features, like skipping to the next transaction, enable Bobby to focus on critical moments without combing through unnecessary footage. As Bobby explained,

“Solink just makes it faster to actually watch the day and some of the transactions. I’m not wasting time going through empty footage.”

In Luekens Liquors own words:

"I use it to track everything, from cash transactions to open drawers, and it’s super quick to help us find anything suspicious. I love the fact that the cameras are easy to access, and the system sends me diagnostics every week. It’s way more advanced than what I’m used to, and we’re catching more issues before they become bigger problems. Plus, the customer service has been fantastic. Anytime I need help, they’re right there."
